Living in the midst of the economic maelstrom is not conducive to relaxation. While I have written about ways to cope with this in ezine articles, I have not written about what makes one resilient. A researcher in 1979 identified three characteristics that identify executives as resilient. These are
- Control
- Commitment
- Challenge
Certainly learning what you can control is an important skill. Feeling committed to your project or company is helps motivate you. Perceiving keeping your position as a challenge rather than feeling defeated helps you perceive new options.
